Software Engineer - Android

Join our world-class team of engineers solving today’s toughest robotics challenges. Tomahawk Robotics is integrating land, air, and sea robotic capabilities to provide next-generation interoperability and control to military, commercial and industrial markets. 

We’re looking for a software engineer interested in developing Android Applications and User Interfaces for the industry leading universal robotics control system for cutting edge robotic platforms from vendors such as the Boston Dynamics, FLIR, QinetiQ, DJI, Parrot, and many more. 

Required Qualifications

  • 5 to 10 year’s experience working in Pre-Sales, Post Sales, Professional Services, or customer facing engineering experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related field with 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Extensive experience in Android Studio
  • Experience working with graphic designers and user experience experts to implement scalable, mobile device agnostic user interfaces 
  • Demonstrated aptitude in Android user experience (UX) and user interface design  
  • Able to design, write, and review code in C++ and Java (JNI experience a plus)
  • Knowledge of computer networking topologies, protocols, and principles
  • Experience in source control and revision tracking using Git 
  • Experience with ExoPlayer (or similar) digital video clients is a plus 
  • Familiarity with software documentation tools and techniques such as Doxygen, UML, Javadoc, etc. 
  • Experience using modern development techniques: continuous integration, continuous testing, and automated deployment 
  • Motivated, hands-on attitude with strong work ethic and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment 
  • Ability to creatively address and solve problems quickly 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills 
  • Positive attitude and works well with a team 
  • Authorized to work in the United States  

Responsibilities Include

  • Design and implement intuitive user-facing software for various types of robotics and related equipment 
  • Design, code, integrate, and test software in Java and C++ 
  • Maintain a Git repository in GitLab and complete documentation for all contributed code 
  • Work with systems engineers to establish application requirements 
  • Become subject matter expert in Android and User Interface implementation 
  • Actively contribute to building a fast and agile software development team
