Associate Software Engineer

Tomahawk Robotics is seeking an associate software engineer to design responsive, modern applications for robotic systems.  This position will allow you to join a rapidly growing company designing cutting edge software for a wide range of robotic platforms. The software candidate will work closely with the mechanical, electrical, and controls teams to ensure seamless integration of hardware and software for command, control, and simulation of many different robotic platforms and applications. 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related field
  • 2+ years of applicable experience (previous employment, internships, co-ops, research assistant, etc.)
  • Solid understanding of software fundamentals such as algorithms and data structures
  • Able to design, write, and review code in C++, Java (JNI interface, and JavaScript a plus) and Python
  • Source code control and revision tracking with Git
  • Knowledge of and eagerness to contribute to modern development operations techniques: continuous integration, continuous testing, and automated deployment
  • Cross-platform software development (Windows, Linux, MacOS, Mobile) a plus
  • Knowledge of computer networking protocols and principles a plus
  • Motivated, hands-on attitude with strong work ethic and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to creatively address and solve problems and close on solutions quickly
  • Positive attitude and driven by challenging tasks
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Works well within an in-person team environment
  • Must be a US Citizen

Responsibilities Include

  • Design and implement intuitive, user-facing software for various types of robotics and related equipment
  • Design and implement back-end software components to support a larger software architecture
  • Work alongside experienced engineers and mentors to rapidly gain experience in the company’s technologies
  • Providing routine status updates to leadership
  • Maintain a Git repository in GitLab and complete documentation for all code written

Preferred location for this role is Melbourne, FL.
